THE PROBLEM
The Global Innovation Exchange (GIE) has 16,000+ innovations on its platform. Many of these technologies still reside upstream within the innovation pipeline — far from commercialization, far from scaled, and far from real impact. The challenge is how to commercialize these technologies more efficiently and effectively to achieve sustainable uptake, scale, and impact.
THE SOLUTION
Sustained uptake of innovations and technologies requires a demand-driven industrial research framework. i2i uses this framework to explicitly outline the steps and actions technology managers need to employ to successfully achieve the innovation-to-commercial uptake pathway. Technology managers can learn how to achieve sustained uptake, scale, and commercialization of their technologies through the i2i interactive, web-based, educational toolkit.
THE HOW
The i2i Innovation Team (I-Team) is a co-creation unit comprised of Feed the Future Innovation Managers. I-Team members document the pathway of one of their innovations across the 5 stages of impact, from ideation to scale. Findings from the I-Team case studies inform the i2i educational toolkit.
i2i TOOLKIT
The i2i program will develop an interactive web-based toolkit of knowledge assets to guide other Feed the Future innovation managers on a pathway toward sustained uptake, scale, and commercialization of their technologies.
